Time flies if you are having a good time and if you are with the main one you love. Because the years go by, perhaps your anniversaries start to sneak through to you, with you and your loved one seemingly always winding up heading out to dinner again. Or perhaps the big day comes and goes, and you never do anything more because you're on a limited budget and can't consider something to do that is celebratory, memorable, and won't cost a fortune. (Sure, a visit to your wine country sounds perfect; but could it be worth refinancing your house and mortgage to finance this?)
Well, luckily, you may be both romantic and financially smart. Listed below are 5 inexpensive and exciting new ways to celebrate your anniversary.
1. Just Be Together
Take the day off from work, switch off the cell phone, stop checking your email, and just spend some quality time together and save money. Keep it simple and remove yourselves from your busy everyday lives. Celebrate your lifetime together because that is what your anniversary is all about.
2. Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year
If that is your fifth anniversary, give five roses. If this really is your 10th anniversary, provide a 10-minute massage. Be thoughtful and fun. Make a game out of it, and see who is able to appear most abundant in creative number-themed gift.
3. Give Thoughtful Gifts
For each anniversary year, you will find traditional gifts that you can give. For instance, the gift for the initial year is traditionally paper. Consider giving your better half stationery you've customized, a book, a love letter, or whatever else connected with paper. It doesn't need to be expensive, just thoughtful. There's also a modern anniversary gift for every single year. For instance, for the fourth anniversary, the modern gift is appliances, which is actually a lot cheaper than a pricey bit of technology. If you're thinking about what these gifts are, here is a handy list of traditional and modern anniversary gifts by year.
4. Watch Your Wedding Video
I don't think I have ever watched my wedding video. Honestly, I am not sure where it is. But what's the point of getting a video made if you're not going to watch it? Your anniversary is a good opportunity to keep in mind that special day, so take out that wedding DVD and watch highlights together. If there isn't one, perhaps you have a video of a holiday you took or another memorable occasion. Or even, look throughout your wedding album or pictures that you have taken during your years together.
5. Get Crafty
If you're feeling a little artsy, go decorate some pottery for each other (most towns have a DIY pottery studio or two). Or make something together, such as a photo album or scrapbook of the last year's events.
