Time flies if you are having a great time and when you are with the one you love. Whilst the years pass by, perhaps your anniversaries start to sneak up on you, with you and your family member seemingly always finding yourself going out to dinner again. Or perhaps the big day comes and goes, and you never do anything at all because you're on a small budget and can't think of something to do that is celebratory, memorable, and won't cost a fortune. (Sure, a trip to your wine country sounds perfect; but could it be worth refinancing your home and mortgage to finance this?)
Well, luckily, you may be both romantic and financially smart. Here are 5 inexpensive and exciting new approaches to celebrate your anniversary.
1. Just Be Together
Take your day off from work, turn off the mobile phone, stop checking your email, and just spend some quality time together and save money. Keep it simple and remove yourselves from your busy everyday lives. Celebrate your lifetime together because that is what your anniversary is all about.
2. Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year
If that is your fifth anniversary, give five roses. If this really is your 10th anniversary, provide a 10-minute massage. Be thoughtful and fun. Create a game from the jawhorse, and see who is able to appear with the most creative number-themed gift.
3. Give Thoughtful Gifts
For every single anniversary year, you can find traditional gifts that you can give. For example, the gift for the first year is traditionally paper. Consider giving your partner stationery you've customized, a book, a love letter, or whatever else connected with paper. It doesn't need to be expensive, just thoughtful. There's also a modern anniversary gift for every single year. As an example, for the fourth anniversary, the current gift is appliances, which could be a lot cheaper when compared to a pricey bit of technology. If you're enthusiastic about what these gifts are, this is a handy listing of traditional and modern anniversary gifts by year.
4. Watch Your Wedding Video
I don't think I have ever watched my wedding video. Honestly, I'm not even sure where it is. But what's the point of experiencing a movie made if you're not going to view it? Your anniversary is a great opportunity to remember that special day, so take out that wedding DVD and watch highlights together. If there isn't one, perhaps you have a movie of a holiday you took or another memorable occasion. If not, look during your wedding album or pictures that you have got throughout your years together.
5. Get Crafty
If you are feeling a little artsy, go decorate some pottery for every other (most towns have a DIY pottery studio or two). Or make something together, just like a photo album or scrapbook of the prior year's events.
