Time flies when you're having a good time and when you are with the one you love. As the years go by, perhaps your anniversaries commence to sneak through to you, with you and your loved one seemingly always finding yourself going out to dinner again. Or possibly the big day comes and goes, and you never do anything more because you're on a tight budget and can't think of something to do that is celebratory, memorable, and won't cost a fortune. (Sure, a trip to the wine country sounds perfect; but could it be worth refinancing your property and mortgage to finance this?)
Well, luckily, you can be both romantic and financially smart. Here are 5 inexpensive and exciting new ways to celebrate your anniversary.
1. Just Be Together
Take your day off from work, turn off the cell phone, stop checking your email, and just spend some quality time together and save money. Keep it simple and remove yourselves from your busy everyday lives. Celebrate your lifetime together because that is what your anniversary is all about.
2. Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year
If that is your fifth anniversary, give five roses. If that is your 10th anniversary, provide a 10-minute massage. Be thoughtful and fun. Create a game out of it, and see who will show up with creative number-themed gift.
3. Give Thoughtful Gifts
For every single anniversary year, you can find traditional gifts that you could give. For instance, the gift for the initial year is traditionally paper. Consider giving your partner stationery you have customized, a guide, a love letter, or whatever else related to paper. It doesn't have to be expensive, just thoughtful. There's also a modern anniversary gift for each year. For instance, for the fourth anniversary, the modern gift is appliances, which might be a lot cheaper than a pricey little bit of technology. If you're interested in what these gifts are, this is a handy list of traditional and modern anniversary gifts by year.
4. Watch Your Wedding Video
I don't think I have ever watched my wedding video. Honestly, I'm not even sure where it is. But what's the idea of getting a video made if you are not going to view it? Your anniversary is a good opportunity to remember that special day, so take out that wedding DVD and watch highlights together. If there isn't one, perhaps you've a video of a secondary you took or another memorable occasion. Or even, look through your wedding album or pictures that you have got during your years together.
5. Get Crafty
If you're feeling only a little artsy, go decorate some pottery for every other (most towns have a DIY pottery studio or two). Or make something together, such as for instance a photo album or scrapbook of the previous year's events.
