Time flies when you're having a good time and if you are with usually the one you love. While the years go by, perhaps your anniversaries start to sneak up on you, with you and your cherished one seemingly always ending up heading out to dinner again. Or probably the big day comes and goes, and you don't do some thing because you are on a limited budget and can't think of something to do that is celebratory, memorable, and won't cost a fortune. (Sure, a trip to your wine country sounds perfect; but could it be worth refinancing your property and mortgage to finance this?)
Well, luckily, you can be both romantic and financially smart. Here are 5 inexpensive and exciting new methods to celebrate your anniversary.
1. Just Be Together
Take your day removed from work, turn fully off the mobile phone, stop checking your email, and just spend some quality time together and save money. Keep it simple and remove yourselves from your busy everyday lives. Celebrate your daily life together because that is what your anniversary is all about.
2. Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year
If that is your fifth anniversary, give five roses. If that is your 10th anniversary, give a 10-minute massage. Be thoughtful and fun. Produce a game from the jawhorse, and see who can show up with the most creative number-themed gift.
3. Give Thoughtful Gifts
For each anniversary year, you will find traditional gifts that you could give. For example, the gift for the first year is traditionally paper. Consider giving your spouse stationery you have customized, a book, a love letter, or whatever else related to paper. It doesn't need to be expensive, just thoughtful. There's also a modern anniversary gift for each year. As an example, for the fourth anniversary, the current gift is appliances, which is actually a lot cheaper when compared to a pricey little bit of technology. If you're enthusiastic about what these gifts are, here is a handy set of traditional and modern anniversary gifts by year.
4. Watch Your Wedding Video
I don't think I have ever watched my wedding video. Honestly, I'm not really sure where it is. But what's the idea of experiencing a movie made if you're not going to watch it? Your anniversary is a great opportunity to remember that special day, so dust off that wedding DVD and watch highlights together. If you don't have one, perhaps you've a movie of a holiday you took or another memorable occasion. If not, look throughout your wedding album or pictures that you have got throughout your years together.
5. Get Crafty
If you should be feeling a little artsy, go decorate some pottery for every single other (most towns have a DIY pottery studio or two). Or make something together, just like a photo album or scrapbook of the previous year's events.
